The Indian Super League (ISL) was officially launched in 2014 as a bold initiative to transform the landscape of football in India. Additionally, the league aligned itself more closely with Asian football standards, allowing top-performing teams to qualify for continental tournaments like the AFC Champions League, further raising its profile on the international stage.
In the current scenario, the ISL stands as the centerpiece of Indian football, with growing viewership, improved quality of play, and increasing investment from clubs and sponsors. However, challenges still exist, including ongoing discussions about integrating promotion and relegation with the I-League, ensuring financial stability for all clubs, and strengthening grassroots development across the country.
