The Football Association Challenge Cup, commonly known as the FA Cup, is the oldest national football competition in the world, having been first held in the 1871–72 season. Organized by The Football Association (The FA), it is an annual knockout tournament open to all eligible professional and amateur clubs down to level 9 of the English football league system. Due to this wide entry, the tournament is famous for its "magic," allowing lower-tier teams to compete against Premier League giants, often resulting in "giant-killing" upsets that create lasting, romanticized moments in football history.

The competition structure consists of 12 rounds, followed by semi-finals and the final, typically played at Wembley Stadium in London. While non-league teams begin in the early qualifying rounds, professional teams from League One and Two join in the first round proper, and Premier League and Championship clubs enter at the third round in January. Replays were historically used for drawn matches, but starting in the 2024–25 season, replays were scrapped from the first round onwards to accommodate an expanded European match schedule.

As of 2025, Arsenal holds the record for the most successful club with 14 titles, closely followed by Manchester United, while Crystal Palace are the 2025 winners. Winning the FA Cup is highly prestigious, offering a place in the UEFA Europa League (or Conference League) and the FA Community Shield.
